Double Nomination, European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2015

6a architects' facade for Paul Smith and the Tree House have both received nominations for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2015.

The practice has been nominated for a third consecutive edition of the award, following nominations for both Raven Row and the South London Gallery in 2011 and the Fashion Gallery at the v&a in 2013.

The highest award in European architecture, the prize is granted every two years to recognise and commend excellence in the field of architecture.

House of Voltaire is a biennial temporary shop in support of Studio Voltaire’s renowned gallery and education programmes.

Studio Voltaire's biennial temporary shop opens from 12th November - 20th December in Mayfair, London. Designed by Simon Jones, A Practice for Everyday Life and 6a architects the store will sell a selection of unique artworks, limited edition prints and specially commissioned homewares, clothing and accessories by leading contemporary artists and designers.

RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize 2014

The Tree House has been shortlisted for the riba Stephen Lawrence Prize 2014. This prestigious prize, founded in memory of Stephen Lawrence (1974-1993), rewards projects built to modest budgets.

2014 RIBA Manser Medal

August 2014

6a architects’ Tree House has been nominated for the 2014 riba Manser Medal. The annual award recognises outstanding new houses in the uk.

6a architects on the cover of Detail magazine. The cast iron shop front for Paul Smith in Mayfair, London is presented in an issue dedicated to facades.

 

CICA Book and Journal Awards

July 2014

Never Modern (Park Books), by Irénée Scalbert and 6a architects, has been shortlisted for the cica Bruno Zevi Book Award 2014.

The International Committee of Architectural Critics cica, was founded in 1978 in Mexico by Bruno Zevi, Julius Posener and Pierre Vago. The current president is Prof. Joseph Rykwert.

The prestigious cica Book Awards were initiated at the xiv UIA World Congress in Warsaw, 1981. Recipients of the awards have included Kenneth Frampton, William Curtis, Dalibor Vesely and Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani.  

 

Double RIBA London Award

May 2014

6a architects was presented with a riba London Award and a riba London Special Award for Tree House, East London. The riba London Awards celebrate the best new architecture in the capital each year. 6a previously received the award for contemporary art centre Raven Row in Spitalfields.

Civic Trust Award

March 2014

6a architects' collaboration with Paul Smith at 11 Albemarle Street was presented with a 2014 Civic Trust Award. Established in 1959, the Award recognises outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment across the world.

 

Designs of the Year

February 2014

The Design Museum has nominated 6a architects for their Designs of the Year Award 2014. The jury selected the cast iron façade designed for Paul Smith in Mayfair, London to join a shortlist that includes works by Zaha Hadid, Miuccia Prada, Rick Owens, David Chipperfield and Lacaton & Vassal. 6a architects previously received a nomination for the contemporary art centre Raven Row.

An exhibition of the nominated architects and designers will open on the 26th March 2014 at the Design Museum.
